How one local company turned a national emergency into an engineering success.
While the Chalk River Nuclear Reactor was unexpectedly shut down for repairs, the world waited for medical isotopes. A global search for expert resources led AECL to Liburdi Automation Inc. At this Innovation Breakfast we are pleased to welcome Robert Pistor, Managing Director of Liburdi Automation Inc. to tell the story of how one local company turned a national emergency into an engineering success.

December 2010:
Liburdi Automation, Pratt & Whitney, Ecole Polytechnic de Montreal and NRC  embark on adaptive laser deposition project:  In 2011, a team of institutions and industrial partners will be working through CRIAQ (Centre Research Industrial Aerospace a Quebec) to develop a laser adaptive system to generate in free form modifications or appendages to engine cases and other aerospace components.

November 2010:
Liburdi Automation receives the supplier of the year award from AECL for the NRU reactor program in Chalk River Canada.  This award is given to only one supplier per year that exemplifies excellence in technology and support to the AECL organization.  The celebration Dinner and awards were held in Toronto on November 25 2010.

The new expanded facilities in Stoney Creek offer LAI exceptional access to the major highways in the region while being closer to the Buffalo International Airport (approximately 40 minutes by car)  These new facilities have an enhanced manufacturing layout to facilitate the assembly and testing of robotic & orbital welding systems for aerospace and nuclear applications.
