Liburdi renews Rolls-Royce Authorization
Liburdi Turbine Services has been renewed by Rolls-Royce as an Authorized Component Repair Vendor for industrial Rolls-Royce RB211, Avon and Spey engines. The Rolls-Royce authorization with Liburdi was first established in 2002 and the new agreement is a five-year extension through 2013. Liburdi has repaired over 1,000 sets of Rolls-Royce blades and NGVs to date.
The agreement covers complete repair of all models of industrial RB211, Avon and Spey gas generator turbine blades and vanes, which are Liburdi’s specialty. The authorization includes some 20 advanced repairs that have been developed by Liburdi using special technologies to fully restore RB211 blades, reconstruction of thin wall RB211 NGVs, reconstruction of HPT seal segments, full restoration of Avon blades and reconstruction of Avon NGVs. The Liburdi proprietary technologies include creep rejuvenation heat treatments for blades, the LPM powder metallurgy process and LSR turbine coatings.
The Liburdi repairs are provided to Rolls-Royce authorized overhaul shops and engine operators worldwide, for use by operators in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The repair services are carried out in the Liburdi aero and aero-derivative repair shop and engineering laboratories near Toronto, Canada.
Liburdi also operates industrial frame component repair facilities in North Carolina, USA and offers component repairs through its joint venture and technical partners in Russia, China and Korea.
Liburdi-ORMA opens Joint Venture Repair Facility in Russia
The new facility, opened in the fall of 2007 performs advanced repairs for industrial frame engine components from the Russian (Gazprom) fleet. Liburdi has licensed and transfered its advanced technologies, processes, and procedures to the joint venture which is located in St. Petersburg, Russia. Liburdi’s operating partner is ORMA, a major manufacturer of gas turbine engine components for the gas turbine industry in Russia.
SamsungTechwin - Liburdi Technology Partnership
Liburdi and Samsung Techwin partnership agreement has been in effect since 2005. the partnership has enabled Liburdi’s advanced repairs to be transferred under license to be performed by Samsung in their component repair facilities in Korea. Under the agreement specific repair services for blades and vanes may also be contracted to Liburdi’s facilities in North America. The Partnership will focus mainly on the latest F Class components but will also service some models of mature engines.
TransCanada – Liburdi Master Supply Agreement
Liburdi and TransCanada Corporation have a multi year, Master Supply Agreement, since 2006 for Liburdi to supply engineering services and advanced component repairs in support of TransCanada’s fleet of gas turbine engines. The Agreement provides for repair of Rolls-Royce, General Electric, and Siemens components as well as development of new repairs and support services.
TransAlta Energy - Liburdi Alliance
Liburdi and TransAlta, an international power generation company based in Alberta, Canada entered into a 10 year Alliance on June 6, 2005. The Alliance provides for Liburdi's advanced component repairs and upgrades to be applied to all hot gas path parts for TransAlta's fleet of Frame 7EAs. TransAlta will receive significant maintenance cost savings through Liburdi's proven component life extension program.
ReGENco – Liburdi Alliance
Liburdi announced an alliance with ReGENco, a major service company in the power generation industry based in Milwaukee, WI. The alliance will add the capabilities of ReGENco - specialists in repair, overhaul and upgrades for steam turbines, electric generators and most recently, combustion turbine rotors to Liburdi's existing capabilities for repair of turbine components and engineering support for industrial frame turbine engines. The ReGENco facility was previously the North American support center for Siemens engines.
Dresser-Rand – Liburdi Alliance
Dresser-Rand and Liburdi have an Alliance Agreement for support of Dresser-Rand’s line of power turbines including the DR61, GT61, DJ270, DJ290, DJ125. Under the Agreement Liburdi is the exclusive provider of repairs and upgrades to Dresser-Rand for power turbine blades and vanes for all models.
